What to expect
Please arrive 10 minutes before your initial appointment in order to fill out the necessary paperwork. This will include your contact details, medical and health history and consent for treatment. All information given to us is held confidentially. We deliver a professional service and respect your rights, dignity, privacy, feelings and cultural customs. We respect the confidentiality of your professional relationship and only communicate with your doctor and insurance company with your prior consent.
It is not a requirement to see a Doctor or Consultant before seeing a Physiotherapist. In many cases, you have the choice to see a Physiotherapist as your first point of contact with a health professional. If your treating Physiotherapist thinks it is necessary, he or she will refer you on to the appropriate Health Care Professional, for example a GP or a Specialist.
If you have been referred by a Doctor or Health Professional please bring:
Any referral letters or relevant reports
Any Xrays or scans you may have had done
Private insurance patients:
Bring your insurance information to your first appointment. This will include your membership number and authorisation code. Please note- it is a policy of Fiona Reid Physiotherapy that patients pay for their physiotherapy treatment at the time of the appointment and claim back their money from their insurer. Full receipts can be organised for this purpose- please let the clinic know if you require this.
In order to perform a comprehensive assessment of your condition, it is at times necessary to expose as much of the injured area as possible. Please bring shorts and a t-shirt with you to your assessment and treatment sessions.
A detailed history of your condition is taken followed by a thorough examination involving specific tests, to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. Treatment involves hands on therapy tailored to the physiotherapist’s findings. Rehabilitation exercises are prescribed to promote healing, improve range of movement and strength to help reduce pain and encourage normal movement.
Payment must be made at the time of treatment and can be made via Debit or Credit card (excluding American Express), cash, cheque or electronic banking.
We understand that life doesn’t always go according to plan, and occasionally you may not be able to attend your session. However, we are a busy practice with waiting lists and failure to attend appointments without notice means another client misses out too. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please inform us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. Broken appointments without notification will be charged at a rate of 50% the normal cost of the session
